Moonlight Sonata

haha, yes, such a lame name.but well, i didn't come up with it.. lol. so it was near mid autumn festival and we were invited for a celebration at kailyn's house! well first kenrick and ian popped by my place and they were entertaining themselves with top spin 2. they are so damn funny when they play, both making a whole lotta noise, shouting at each other. haha.

after that pre-celebration game, we went for dinner with the rest at the hawker center near her place..

after that, we headed to kailyn's place to play Wii! I love it.. such a fun party console. we were playing tennis and cooking mama. gosh, i just laughed till my ribs were hurting! it is highly challenging for noobs to play cuz its not quite so easy to perform the many many maneuvers with that little controller.

kailyn was rather appalled at one pt in time and took over the controller cuz she couldn't bear to see all the dishes ending up in a mess.. :p

and these were the goodies we brought for the celebration.. :)

haha, they were making fun of evange for bringing the oddly but aptly shaped fruits.. :o

and well, ian couldn't resist posing with them.. :p

this is actually somewhere near where i grew up! maybe when i was 4? i actually recognized the area as i was heading in that direction.. :D


all in all, it was a very fun night.. esp with the Wii. i just love it. oh and ty and rouan had various hilarious videos.. but i'm too lazy to upload them now. haha. they had some streetfighter enactment.. and ty did the chunli victory dance.. :X well, too bad i had to lose money while playing mahjong.. haha

now, i have to attempt to recover from my tremendous sleep debt.

realized that other than some birthday photos tt i've yet to upload, i have not uploaded photos from this dinner i had w yihan b4 he flew off! ok, more recent photos below as well.. but first this:

so this was on a wed, 29th aug i think, which i was dead tired on cuz i slept abt 3h cuz i had to send nick off. but yes, i was high on sleep deprivation apparently. and here we were at waraku at marina square..

ian took many vids.. poor aud. haha, too bad i can't upload them here.. :p

my food! it is some sesame thing with some interesting sauce.. the rest loved it! but i was equivocal.. i liked ian's dish much more. i guess its due to me not quite liking sour entrees.

yihan's nice lil side dish roasting away by itself. and aud being a photowhore behind..



oh dear, i realized i didn't get ian's dish which was tasty!! haha, but its ok, i took pix of the colorful and great desserts at MOF. i really like the desserts there.. the best jap desserts around.. quite cheap and they are good. :)

it was great fun the dinner. though we were quite exhausted. anw, these pix are from a cg lunch at La Petite Cuisine at Serene Center. i loved the bread.. crisp outside, soft inside, served v warm and with loads of butter!!

this was wanqin's pasta.. its one of the better dishes..

my dory.. the butter rice was good, but the dory is kinda normal. but well, its quite cheap.. 8.50 nett..

xueting's salmon.. i liked the sauce..

didn't manage to get the pix of evange's duck confit, or ian's lemon creme prawn and foie gras ravioli which was apparently quite good. well, i tasted it, it is good indeed.

hmmm, this was dinner with weili and mich and aud at vivo..

seafood platter FOR 2. puny. and ex. not worth it. tastes good though. esp the crab salad (the red stuff)

pork knuckle.. nothing special here.. haha. the usual unhealthy crispy skin with tender meat inside.. not a huge fan.. but it tasted fine.. very ex though at 32.
after dinner, we dragged our bored asses to sentosa via tram.

we went to cafe del mar.. its my first time there. yeah, so sua ku.. :X


i like the atmosphere and the decor! hmmm, too bad the seats do not have a view of the fireworks at the songs of the sea.. would be great to sip some drinks and see the beautiful skyline.

we had more food.. weili's scallops!

my creme brulee.. its kinda different from usual.. but i must say i quite enjoyed the generous amounts of raisins and the rum flavored thick body of the dessert

lousy pix of the sentosa skyline. i must really say that this whole place has really transformed in a v short time. i have no doubt that by the time the IR on sentosa is completed, sentosa will be a bustling tourist attraction. as it is now, it is very happening. pretty lights by the sea, dotted with many bars and cafes with a competent tram system. its great.. :) so convenient now as well with the train from vivocity.

A Good Dinner

today, i am gastronomically very satisfied.. :D had a fantastic dinner with the medicine guys.. YUMMY! ok had dinner at mellben seafood, but since the photos are further down, i shall skip to our after dinner dessert stuffs instead.. :p decided to head down to Arab street.. explore the interesting areas of singapore.. ;) when i first reached there, i felt like i was on some sorta of social studies heritage tour. lol.. it was quite interesting to see all the shop houses, and it was great that it there were all these decorative lights. i think they should be left there all year round! just like the new year and xmas lights.. :)

we photowhored as we waited for mich to shift her car due to some.. errrm, unforeseen circumstances.. ;)


headed down to this place called samar. apparently, the arab food they serve here is really good, but since it is fasting month, they only have a buffet thing now. but anw, we weren't interested in savory food, more of some sorta drink/dessert

the ambiance was good! haha.. i like the decor, but the lack of aircon made it hot.. :( it wasn't v well ventilated.. haha



then claire ordered some shisha! its a arabic sorta smoking thing, where u breathe in flavoured smoke. its quite relaxing, and the smoke is very fragrant. haha, we were all having a go at it.. :)



there, that's the whole thing.. the smoke goes thru the water and then u breath it in! :)

the desserts took an age to arrive. and in spurts too. even after repeated chiding from all of us. fish was the first to get her dessert.. it was some apple thing with raisins and dates and i forgot what.. quite good! :)

me with mich's dessert. this took almost an hour to come.. weili scolded the waiter cuz it was just taking so long. haha.. it was quite hilarious actually.. and it sorta worked.. :)

ok, and this was the dinner.. went to mellben seafood at toa payoh for the famous crab. well, the original stall is in ang moh kio.. and its apparently a 1h queue, and then another half an hour wait for the food.. but this one is much faster.. so among the 6 of us, we had one crab beehoon, and one shimmering sand crab. MY GOSH, this has got to be the best crab i ever ate. and I LOVE CRABS. its damn nice.. haha.

promptly consumed.. :p haha CLEAN! the crab beehoon has a soupy kinda base, and it is sorta a lil spicy, and has a rich milky taste, quite hard to pin point it, but its good. the shimmering sand crab, is just heavenly. its an even richer tasting sauce, and its damn unique. peppery, creamy, buttery, i dunno, such a myriad of flavors mixed together.. excellent!

got really crowded by 7+.. and there was a queue.. they just intruded into the whole open area of the housing estate haha.

yeah, enjoyed today's dinner a lot.. cuz of the yummy food and great company.. haha, nice to meet up with everyone again.. :)
